Wordless Wednesday Linky: Mystery Flower

Ten (not real and not going to get you anything) points to whomever can tell me what kind of flower the white flower in the middle is.  I put my money on it being  a member of the rose family, but my mother strongly disagreed.  Let’s hear your opinions!

I have seen it before – but I can’t tell you what it is … I was thinking it started with a “P” … GOOD LUCK! 🙂

  • Stacey Okleja

resembles a Peony, not sure if it is though!

  • Ranunculus — it is it’s own Genus. There are 600 or so species. You will have to scroll down on this link to find a species like the above but there is a yellow flower that is close. The yellow and white are my favorite. They are very showy. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ranunculus

  • It does look like a peony – so very pretty.
I love fresh flowers in my house, makes me feel all Martha and Fabulous!

  • I think Stacey got it right – a peony!

  • No idea! But i love the colours in the photo 😀

Looks like a peony. My mother-in-law has big beautiful pink ones that bloom each year. They have buds on them now!

    It’s a ranunculus. You’re lucky, they’re my favorite!

  • I have no clue what it is, but I can see how you want to put it in the rose family.

  • That is a ranunculus. I’ve seen them in almost every color of the rainbow; aren’t they beautiful?

I’m totally jealous that your dianthus and bleeding hearts and snapdragons are blooming, too. The only thing open here is my hellebore.

The picture was actually taken at Disney, although! I do have blooming snapdragons in the containers in front of my house 🙂

  • I know nothing about flowers except that if I try to grow them….they die!

  • Whatever it is, it’s GORGEOUS!

  • I don’t do flower names. But I love looking at them. 🙂

  • Christine Jensen

Looks like someone answered you, but I was going to say Ranunculus as well, it is one of my favorite flowers 🙂

  • No idea, but we’re on the same wave length for Wordless Wednesday!

  • Lovely! Is that in your yard?

  • Gorgeous flowers, finally feels like spring!!

  • It is Definately a Ranunculus. I have had them before 🙂

You should name him Charlie or Fred ;P

    • Amy

Cindy, is it wrong that every time I read Ranunculus I hear ridonculous?

      • HA! not at all, nor is it wrong that every time I see that word, I read it as Rhinoceros!!! (yes I had to spell check that one) ;P

  • Um the only flowers I know names to are roses, carnations, dandelions (lol) and orchids. So yeah I have no idea what that is but it sure is pretty!

  • i think it is pretty, not sure what it is.. but above comments seem to 🙂

  • Have no idea. Wish I was more knowledgable about my flowers, but it sure is pretty. Happy WW!

  • whatever it’s called, i’m just glad it’s flower season and not snow season any longer!

    thanks for the linky!
