Kleenex Gives Back

Kleenex brand has partnered with Laura Posada, wife of Major League Baseball’s Jorge Posada and mother of two, to create a clever post-season program that supports a great cause. The post-season can be rough, so Kleenex has created custom tissue boxes with their favorite MLB team for sad fans.  I’m a sucker for fun variations of the products I already use daily, but what I really love about this program is that it supports the Boys & Girls Clubs of America with up to a $5,000 donation. Any opportunity to give back while purchasing necessities for my home means a win in my book.

I had the chance to interview Laura about life as a MLB wife and about this post-season partnership with Kleenex brand:

Q1- Was it difficult adjusting your family’s schedule to your husband’s busy baseball schedule?

Yes, definitely it was difficult.  Baseball season is long, and the schedule with night games was opposite to the kid’s schedule so I had very long days.  Still, we found a way to make it work and being organized we found time for everything.

Q2 – Do you have any tips to offer families with busy schedules, and how they might develop good routines?

I think the most important thing is to have your priorities clear. The well-being of the family should always be the main goal.   Once, you have that then you need to take the time to create a routine that will give you time for work, family and fun.

Q3 – Now that your husband is retired, what’s new in the Posada household?

Now, we can enjoy summers!  This was the first year we were able to spend a summer together and we had the opportunity to go the Olympics.  My husband helps out a lot with the kids especially taking them to baseball and golf.  I am now working on the second season of my TV show and I couldn’t have done this if I didn’t have his help.

Q4 – I see you have teamed up with the Kleenex brand during the MLB postseason, can you tell us a little more about the program?

I know firsthand that the MLB Postseason can be filled with a lot of emotions which is why I teamed up with Kleenex brand.  Kleenex brand knows that fans everywhere are on the edge of their seats rooting on their favorite team and we want those fans to know that whether it’s tears of joy for victory or tears of sadness for defeat, Kleenex brand is there to support them. Fans and friendly rivals can show their support by purchasing custom Kleenex brand oval tissue boxes with their favorite MLB team on MyKleenex.com.  Now through November 15, 2012 fans that purchase an oval can send another one to a friend or rival for free.  All you have to do is enter the code, PLAYOFFS. In addition, Kleenex brand will make a $5,000 donation to Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

Q5 – I know you’re involved in a lot of philanthropic work, what are you working on these days?

I work as President of the Jorge Posada Foundation to help children affected by craniosynostosis.  I am also a Board Member of the National Foundation for Facial Reconstruction.  It is extremely important for me to give back and help the community in any way I can.   It is also great to work with Kleenex in this effort as they support the Boys and Girls Club.

In the spirit of this Kleenex brand initiative and as part of the 30 Day Giving Challenge, I am donating the sponsored post fee that I received from sharing this information with Resourceful Mommy readers.

  • I am a big fan of Jorge Posada. He is an all around stand-up guy. I was sad to see him leave the Yankees. I hope he comes back as a coach in the future. It’s nice to see people in high places giving back.
