One of the most anticipated things of the season is dessert after Thanksgiving dinner. For many people, this means pumpkin pie, piled with whipped cream. I know it may be hard to believe, but there are people in this world who don’t care for pumpkin pie or simply cannot partake for one reason or another. Shocking right? But fortunately for those who can’t or don’t enjoy the deliciousness of this classic Thanksgiving dessert, there are plenty of ideas to have something tasty on the table to close out their meal.
Pie, glorious pie – Yes, we’ve already mentioned pumpkin but there are so many more options that are perfect for Thanksgiving! Apple pie, pecan pie, chocolate cream…the list goes on and on. Basically, if you can bake it into a pie, it’s a great thing.
Feeling Fruity – Fruit salad, sliced fruit with dip, or a delicious baked fruit dish would be a great option for those looking for something a little lighter after their meal. They’ll still get a sweet, tasty treat but on their own terms!
Seasonal Flavors – Pumpkin, cranberry, and apple can be enjoyed in lots of different forms. Cakes, cookies, cupcakes, pinwheel rolls and more can all come to the table to keep desserts seasonal and delicious.
Break out the cookies – Yes, cookies are traditionally a Christmas treat, but there’s no time like Thanksgiving to start enjoying some tasty holiday treats. Send home the extras with your guests as a goodie bag!
Kid-friendly ideas – Keeping the kids happy is often a challenge at the table, so think about fun desserts like cupcakes or DIY sundae bars or treats created in seasonal shapes like turkeys, leaves, or cornucopias. Better yet, get them in on the action and have them choose and make a favorite dessert to share with everyone.
