The favorite day of teachers and students everywhere is upon us! The last day of school is being celebrated all over the country! For my kids, we had a plethora of unused snow days so we’re out a bit earlier usual, with our last day hitting next week. We always do something special on either the last day of school or the first day of vacation, to celebrate the end of another successful school year and the start of a fun and relaxing summer. Whether your kids are already out or you’re still counting the days, here are a few fun ideas for kicking off your summer vacation right:

summervacationcollageIce cream party – Whether you head out for a cone after school or host an ice cream social for the entire class, a sweet, cool treat is the perfect kick-off for summer.

Water fun – Spend the first day of vacation at at the beach, pool, or water park! Set the tone for the summer with some fun in the sun.

Celebration BBQ – Have some friends over and grill up burgers and hot dogs for lunch or dinner after school lets out. Kids can chat over their summer plans and talk about the highlights of the school year.

Theme park day – Last year, we kicked off summer vacation with a trip to a nearby theme park. A fun outing is a great start to the season and will give some fun, family bonding time that will create memories to last a lifetime.

Family night out – Hit the movies, mini golf, or just hang out at the park with a picnic after school lets out on the last day. Celebrating the start of summer vacation as a family doesn’t require a huge event, just some quality time together!
