Festive Friday baking

It’s Friday again and time for another festive holiday get-together idea! Today I’m sharing one of my favorite yearly traditions.

For the past couple of years, my lifelong girlfriends and I round up all our kids and cram everyone into someone’s kitchen for a fun day of baking. It’s so much fun to watch how our little ones have changed from year to year at these parties and seeing the kids go from flour-spilling tasters to grown-up helpers makes me so very nostalgic.

Setting up a cookie baking day is pretty simple! Have everyone pick a couple of their own favorite recipes to make and then shop for the ingredients for those specific goodies. Yes, you’ll have far more than you need, between all of you. You can always leave the leftovers behind for the host kitchen!

On the day of the get-together, be sure to bring along extra bowls, cookie sheets, spoons, and hand mixers so that you can have a couple of different recipes working at the same time.

We make our baking party an all-day affair. We’ll order pizza or subs for a late lunch or early dinner and provide movies or games for the younger kids who will get bored of being in the kitchen eventually.

Be sure to pick up some containers for bringing home all of your treats! We split everything up equally between families so that we all have a great variety of cookies and other goodies.
