Festive Fridays: Festive Home for Fall

If you’re like me, the minute the kids climb back on the bus, a switch flips in your brain and you instantly begin thinking about the fall. While it still may be warm enough to walk out the door sporting shorts and flip flops, you know that in the blink of an eye, you’ll be wrapped up in a cozy sweater and sipping a warm beverage by the fire and you just can’t wait. While you’re waiting for the weather to turn, here are a few ideas to help you get your home ready for fall:

Set out a bowl of candy – Candy corn in a clear glass dish or canister is a great way to bring a little seasonal color to a table. (And you’ve got a handy snack when the urge strikes.)

Liven up the porch with mums – Nothing says fall like a few pots of beautiful mums. Swing by the local garden center and fill up your porch or patio with stunning color.

Bring in a little bit of nature – Even when it’s still warm, you can usually find a few leaves that have started to turn. Grab a few and press them in wax paper for a fun craft with the kids, then hang them on the windows.

Hit up the local farmer’s market – The farmer’s market is the place to go to find pumpkins, gourds, hay bales, and corn stalks to really get things in a fall mood around the house.

Stop by the dollar store – The dollar store is always filled to the brim with inexpensive seasonal decorations. Even if your budget is low, you can stock up on lots of fun goodies that will help you get your home ready for the fall season.
