We’re gearing up for a birthday party this weekend and the next thing on my checklist is to put together goodie bags for our guests. While it’s always fun to fill them with candy and cheap, frivolous toys, I love to add at least one or two really cool surprises as a great thank you for sharing in my child’s special day. These don’t have to be expensive things, just something personalized and fun to commemorate the day.
Here are a few of my favorite ideas:
Make it personal – You can personalize just about anything in your goodie bag with some printable labels! Candy bars, bottles of bubbles, activity kits…the sky is the limit! If you can’t find a template on the internet that suits your needs, just use Photoshop, PicMonkey, or your favorite photo editing software to create your own!
Stay in theme – If your child’s birthday party has a theme, look for goodie bag items that fit with the character or theme of the party. My favorite bags were the ones I created for our Muppets themed party and that I purchased for our Mario Bros party.
Get crafty – Little craft kits with instructions are a huge kit with kids of all ages. Just pull together the materials and print out the directions for them to make their creation at home.
Assemble snack kits – Put together single S’mores kits, movie popcorn and candy kits, or hot chocolate and marshmallow bags instead of piles of dollar store candy.
Keep the fun going – If you’re having your child’s party at a venue like a roller rink, arcade, or movie theater, ask about coupons or small value gift cards that you can purchase to give to your guests for a future visit.
