The holiday season is one of giving. Both giving gifts to loved ones and giving back to our community are important items on our lists. For many families, making sure that those less fortunate have a great holiday is important to them and an adopt-a-family holiday party is a fun way to make that happen with the help of friends and loved ones.
This season, instead of gathering friends and family to give gifts to one another, why not have an evening of giving to a family in need?
Check with community service organizations, local churches, and schools to locate a family that could use a little extra help this holiday. Find out ages of children, clothing sizes, specific needs and wishes, then divide up the list between your friends and family. And don’t forget about the parents! In needy families, parents often forgo basic necessities like clothes and shoes to care for their children.
Select a night to have a wrapping party and set up your own version of Santa’s workshop. Have everyone bring their gifts and wrap them together while enjoying holiday treats! Be sure to do this in advance of the delivery deadline so that you can assess the gifts and fill in any gaps, as needed.
