Easter Basket Recommendations and Giveaway

If you’re like me, you’ll be heading to the store later this week to put together a few last minute items from the Easter Bunny. I’ve written in the past about how much I appreciate that my children have moved on to small collections of toys, and Easter is the perfect excuse to add to those collections without breaking the bank.

Below you’ll find my recommendations based on previous experience with these toy collections and companies, price point, and size. Happy shopping and have a great Easter week!

Egg Filler Ideas

Fan Stamp Press on Face Paint
$5.99 and up
Except for the occasional jelly bean or small chocolate egg (which I steal and eat anyway…) we try to fill our plastic eggs with non-food items. All kids love stickers and temporary tattoos, so new Fan Stamp Press on Face Paint is a great higher-quality option to place inside eggs in your children’s baskets Easter morning or for a local egg hunt. The easy-to-apply design transfers 100% hypoallergenic high-grade mineral makeup to the skin in seconds and can be applied four to six times. Each set also includes setting powder so your little bunnies won’t transfer their new artwork on to your family room pillows. Find Fan Stamp at independent retailers or at http://www.myfanstamp.com/.

Play-Doh Spring Eggs

Approx. Retail: $3.99
Ages: 2 and Up
Skip plastic eggs that you need to fill and instead pick up a dozen Play-Doh spring eggs. Spring into Spring with a dozen plastic eggs in pastel colors – and even one “golden” egg! – each filled with colorful play-doh. Each egg’s color matches the compound color inside. Because there is one golden egg in each bag, you can choose to award a special prize to the one who finds the “golden” egg. The bag contains 12 plastic eggs. Each egg contains one ounce of compound.

Age birth and up:

Gloworm Soft Clutch Rattle from Playskool
Approx. Retail Price: $7.99
Do you remember Gloworm from when you were a child? Now he’s in rattle form! Easy to grasp and fun to cuddle with, baby’s first rattle features the endearing Gloworm character. Infants will love to explore the various textures on this soft and colorful toy and hear the rewarding jingle as they shake their new favorite plaything. Our little buddy Gloworm rattle is available exclusively at Toys R Us, Babies R Us and ToysRUs.com.
Age 12 months and up:

Wheel Pals Mini 4-pack assortment from Playskool
Approx. Retail Price: $9.99
These adorable small scale friends from Playskool are sure to charm toddlers with their bright smiling faces. The squeezable Mini Wheel Pals animals are available in a Jungle or Farm themed assortment of four charismatic pals, each assortment sold separately. While these are perfectly sized to place inside an Easter basket, I also think they’d be fun to place around a table at a first birthday party with either a farm or jungle theme. They’d make a great party favor at the end of the event! Available at most major toy retailers nationwide.

Wheel Pals Classic from Playskool
Approx. Retail Price: $3.99
These delightful animal-themed pals on wheels are the perfect size for playful toddlers’ little hands. Tots will enjoy rolling and racing their colorful Wheel Pals friends and are sure to fall in love with the animals’ adorable, expressive faces. Collect all the cheery jungle and farm friends, each sold separately. I love the idea of one larger wheel pal with a four pack of minis in the same theme. Have a Wheel Pals themed Easter basket! Available at most major toy retailers nationwide.

Age 3 years and up:

Spin ‘N Store Fun Factory from Play-Doh
Approx. Retail Price: $7.99
Even though my children are six and nearly four, Play-Doh remains one of our favorite toys. This updated version of the classic toy features a thick handle so little hands can easily press down on the extruder to create one of eight silly shapes. The extruding dial is now attached so that it cannot get lost- simply spin the dial to select a favorite shape! The attached wheel is my favorite part because I have a cat who frequently “borrows” play-doh accessories. This set includes two 2-ounce cans of Play-Doh compound and a plastic cutting tool, which can all be stored in the Fun Factory base. Available at most major toy retailers nationwide and on HasbroToyShop.com.

Age 4 years and up:
Littlest Pet Shop Petriplets from Hasbro
Approx. Retail Price: $12.99
We love the Littlest Pet Shop toys so much that some weekends my daughter disappears in her room and doesn’t come out for hours. I love them because they’re small and easily stored in their accessories on a shelf in my daughter’s room. Now the Littlest Pet Shop brand is delighted to welcome triplets into the family with the introduction of the Littlest Pet Shop Petriplets assortment. Choose between eight sweet sets of pets including bunnies and bears. Each set of Littlest Pet Shop Petriplets includes three unique triplet pets, each housed in their own environment, and lots of accessories. Each sold separately. Available at most major toy retailers nationwide and on HasbroToyShop.com.

Furreal Friends Snuggimals from Hasbro
Approx. Retail Price: $7.99)
So cute and small, you’ll want to adopt them all! We first fell in love with Furreal Friends with my daughter’s Teacup Pup and Lulu the cat was a favorite last Christmas. The Furreal Friends Snuggimals palm-sized pets are a handful of fun. Pet the adorable Snuggimals puppies on their backs and they’ll move their heads and wag their tails, ready for playtime! Snuggimals kitties love to have their tummies rubbed, and furry Snuggimals bunnies are comfiest when they cuddle into your palm. When you stroke their backs, watch the cute Snuggimals seals wiggle about in your hand. Choose from more than 20 different Snuggimals pets for your child’s Easter basket. Each pet is sold separately. Requires one “AA” battery, included. Available at most major toy retailers nationwide and on HasbroToyShop.com.

Strawberry Shortcake: Sweetest Styles from Hasbro

Approximate Retail Value $9.99 She might be tiny, but Strawberry Shortcake has a huge heart. Her friends love to gather at her Berry Café, where they can always count on Strawberry Shortcake for a helping hand and some berry delicious treats—no wonder she’s everyone’s best friend in Berry Bitty City! We love this latest version of Strawberry Shortcake at our home, and the new accessories my daughter received for her sixth birthday were one of her favorite presents. She plays with them for hours and like the Littlest Pet Shop collections, they are small and easy to store. Dressing up is always more fun with a friend—and now you’ve got two new friends to try on fabulous styles with! Your sweet-smelling Strawberry Shortcake and Raspberry Torte figures need help figuring out just the right look for them. Which one of the six dress accessories should they choose? Hat or no hat? And which handbag completes the look? Try each look on your fashionable new friends and decide which one is the perfect style for right now. Then switch them up as soon as you feel like it for more “berry” adorable looks! Figures come with two purses, one hat and six dress accessories.
