For weeks I grumbled about how I should have made it work and what an idiot I was for passing up the chance of a lifetime. The stars who would have been in my midst….ACK! Oh, and there was a blogger tour of the new Kim Possible something or other….grumble, grumble, grumble.
Fast forward to our
surprise Disney vacation the end of May, and my daughter noticed the new Kim Possible attraction at EPCOT. I said that we didn’t have enough time to check it out because we’d only be at EPCOT one day and hustled her past the attraction kiosks all the while saying, “Stupid scheduling conflict, missed Carrie Underwood, grumble, grumble, grumble.”
By the time our family vacation in December rolled around, I had gotten over the missed experience from the February before and faced the Kim Possible World Showcase Adventure with an open mind and a flexible schedule.
I did not expect to like it….but it turned out that I loved it. The Kim Possible Adventure is an attraction that I feel is a must-do for anyone with kids between four and ten years old. In fact, we went back to EPCOT in a constant, torrential downpour in December, ponchos and umbrellas ready, and did a third adventure having enjoyed the first two so much! So what is this attraction?
Kim Possible Adventure is an interactive experience that allows guests of any age to help Kim “save the world” using a Kimmunicator, a cell phone set to interact with censors around EPCOT’s World Showcase.
To participate simply visit a kiosk at one of the various locations throughout EPCOT, swipe one park ticket, and receive a time reservation time window to retrieve your Kimmunicator and begin your mission. The adventure occurs in the World Showcase area of EPCOT, so be sure to wait until you are ready to move to that part of the park before receiving your ticket. Once your time has arrived, head to Norway to begin your adventure.
Kimmunicator phones display video and audio messages directing participants to find various hidden objects and solve mysteries. The Kimmunicators respond to and interact with hidden censors throughout the World Showcase causing seemingly static EPCOT displays to come to life before your children’s eyes. There are seven adventures, each occurring in a different country, and participants can choose to end after just one mission or continue on to save the world.

My children love everything about Disney: the transportation system, the characters, the rides, heck…even the flight down there, but this adventure honestly brought something out in them that I had not seen before during our Disney vacations. They were ecstatic from start to finish, buzzing around like hyper little bees wanting to find the hidden clues, working together as a team (yes, my three and five year olds worked together…without fighting), and enjoying every second. I also had just as much fun as they did and looked forward to completing more adventures.
Some tips:
– You do not have to watch the show Kim Possible in order to enjoy this attraction.
– Be prepared to spend at least 15 minutes on each adventure, but know that you can skip past clues if you’d like to end earlier.
– Some of the adventures are on the complete opposite side of the World Showcase from the start point in Norway, so tell the Cast Member if you’d like to stay closer to the starting location.
– Throw away your touring guide and enjoy this time with your kids. It is truly
magical.
