Disney Book Review – Beyond the Attractions: A Guide to Walt Disney World for Preschoolers

In planning for multiple Walt Disney World vacations, I have read stacks of guide books and searched through countless forums and websites. My hands down favorite planning guide is The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World, and the most resourceful Disney website is All Ears. That said, I love the idea of a Disney planning guide geared specifically for families with pre-schoolers and jumped on the chance to review Beyond the Attractions: A Guide to Walt Disney World with Preschoolers by Lisa M. Battista.

What I love about Battista’s book is that she managed to include the basics any first time Disney vacationer will need to know while also focusing on kids ages two to five. While you still may choose to buy an additional guide to delve more deeply into basic planning subjects, it is not at all necessary. Battista familiarizes readers with topics in such a way that a bit more online research will adequately fill in the planning blanks. The author’s tips for enjoying the World with pre-schoolers – from finding playgrounds to packing for your trip – make it a worthwhile read for any parent travelling with a young child. Quite frankly, the additional Disney information is just icing on the cake.
