For the past couple of Augusts, I’ve participated in a special social media event called Blogust. During Shot@Life’s Blogust 2015—a month-long blog relay—some of North America’s most beloved online writers, photo and video bloggers and Shot@Life Champions come together and share inspirational quotes for their children. Every time you comment on this post and other Blogust contributions, or take action using the social media on this website, Shot@Life and the United Nations Foundation pages, one vaccine will be donated to a child around the world (up to 50,000).
Each Blogust has a theme, such as the year I wrote on August 9th about my daughter turning 9. This year the call was to find an inspirational quote as a launching point for our posts. I searched. I struggled. I waited for inspiration to find me. And then my mind – and my heart – went back to these Bible verses…
We are living in divisive, turbulent times, with many people using social media to boldly claim their position on one side or the other of controversial issues. In moments such as these, it’s often easier to become quiet, look away. A comment can lead to an argument, can end a friendship. A comment can reveal a viewpoint that you’re afraid to share or create a chasm instead of a connection. Silence is the easier choice. But then I remember the command to love. Just love.
For the thirty-one days of August, a comment – a simple comment – will actually make a positive difference and potentially save a life. For the duration of Blogust, your comments will fuel change and provide vaccines to children around the world.
Amy, thank you so much for your participation in Blogust and dedication to this wonderful cause!
I love this campaign. I’m so glad that my simple comment helps a child get the immunizations they need.
I hope this is true, that my simple comment here would give a child a potentially life-saving vaccine. How wonderful.

Love it, Amy!
If we could each give one vaccine just by typing a simple sentence, why wouldn’t we?
To love is to give and blogust is one of the easy ways to give children the vaccines they need to free of childhood diseases. Thank you!

What a great quote to pick. My littlest one just turned 1 and I try to convey that to her and my older daughter everyday. Thank you.
Love the quote and love the message. Thanks for continuing to help this cause.
