Believe on the Disney Dream

There is so much that I hope to tell you about my family’s experience on the Disney Dream‘s Christening Cruise, but even the highlights cannot fit into one post.  Over the next couple of weeks, I’ll be sharing some of our favorite moments and features with you, starting with the musical production, Believe. While there were many amazing things to do and experience aboard the ship, this show stands out in my mind as one of the most incredibly unique aspects of the cruise.

Believe is the Broadway-style original Disney live show that is performed in the Dream’s stunning Walt Disney Theatre.  The plot reminds me very much of Disney’s TinkerBell and the Great Fairy Rescue. A father is so preoccupied with his scientific goals that he can’t see the magic in his own life in the presence of his daughter.  But unlike TinkerBell and the Great Fairy Rescue, it takes more than just the help of Tink and her friends to open his eyes before it’s too late.  The most enjoyable aspect of this musical is how Disney incorporates characters and songs from favorite films including Mary Poppins, The Lion King, The Princess and the Frog, The Jungle Book and many more. The look on my children’s faces as each new character appeared was absolutely magical!

Not only are the concept and venue incredible, but the music and dancing are also top-notch.  Led by a campy Genie who is one part Robin Williams in Aladdin and one part Nathan Lane from The Bird Cage, the journey leads the Professor through a Christmas Carol-esque journey that takes the audience through their favorite Disney film memories.  If you visit the Dream, this is a not to be missed experience.  My four and six year old children were mesmerized for the entire hour, and my husband and I laughed out loud as well.  There’s truly something for everyone!

My travel expenses including my airfare and cruise package were provided by Disney Cruise Line as part of the Disney Dream Christening Cruise, which provided members of the media with an opportunity to preview this new and exciting ship.  All opinions are my own.
