Beauty and the Beast in D.C. – Our Family Theater Date

Two years ago I wrote about a moment of parenting bliss when my daughter and I bonded over the musical Cats and I consequently took her to see her first live musical at a local theater.  So much has changed since then.  Now my daughter is reading my favorite books at a breakneck pace, her brother coming along quickly behind her.  They have both begun to play the piano and I often play duets with both of them.  I am reliving some of my favorite moments of musical and educational discovery through their eyes, and it is nothing short of magical.

Tomorrow night we take another step together on our musical journey as we attend Disney’s Beauty and the Beast live on stage at the National Theatre in Washington, D.C.

During the four months that I lived in London in the fall of 1997, I walked past the Beauty and the Beast marquis nearly every day on my way from the Tube stop to my classes.  I always vowed to make time to see it, but I somehow never did.  Since then my children have fallen in love with Disney’s version of the classic tale, and we have watched the movie, read the books, met the characters, and even experienced the smaller stage show at Walt Disney World’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Florida.  I am thrilled to be able to take advantage of our close proximity to the National Theatre to watch this award winning Broadway musical with my husband and our children.

I look forward to sharing more after tomorrow night’s family theater date night!  Until then, here is a bit more information for those of you in the D.C. Metro area:

Hey! I know this is somewhat off topic but I was wondering if you knew where I could find a captcha plugin for my comment form?

I’m using the same blog platform as yours and I’m
having trouble finding one? Thanks a lot!
