Here Comes Peter Cottontail…

After a(nother) winter with essentially no snow, I’ve decided that it’s time to jump right past St. Patty’s Day and decorate my home for Easter.  I’ve given up on the idea of a rare March storm and instead have focused my eyes on the daffodils poking up and the birds chirping in the trees.

We love Easter in our home.  The one holiday of the year that we host, Easter means sparkly eggs on the mantle, bunnies in the front window, and pastel colors everywhere.  This holiday is the perfect antidote to the winter blues!

One of our favorite aspects of this much-anticipated spring holiday is the finding of the Easter Bunny basket.  Each year my children come out of their rooms on Easter morning to get ready for church, only to find that Peter Cottontail has left a cotton trail for them…

We’ve used this technique for years as a way to begin building anticipation from the moment their little feet pass their bedroom doors.  Each year they act surprised that silly old Peter was messy yet again, and they run along the trail as it winds along hallways and down stairs.  The journey is always worth it because in the end they know they’ll find the pot of gold at the end of their fluffy white rainbow…
