According to recent research from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, nearly one in four children in the United States doesn’t know where their next meal is coming from. These children live across the country and come from all walks of life – from cities to rural areas; two-income families to single-parent homes. Summer is an especially critical time in the battle to end child hunger. During the school year, 19.5 million kids use free or reduced price meal programs in school – however, during the summer, only 2.2 million kids continue using the programs, which means there are nearly 17 million kids who may not know where their next meal is coming from.

Please join us Friday as we tweet with Katharine McPhee who has joined Feeding America and the ConAgra Foods Foundation to launch the Hunger-Free Summer program. Join us to learn more about the Child Hunger Ends Here Neighborhood Rally campaign, an initiative led by ConAgra Foods in partnership with Feeding America, the nation’s leading hunger-relief organization. We can all help kids at risk of hunger by rallying together to host or attend events that support Feeding America. We can turn a bake sale, church rummage sale, food drive, yard sale, neighborhood picnic, block party, or other existing community event into a Child Hunger Ends Here Neighborhood Rally simply by donating a portion or all of the proceeds from the event to Feeding America, which has a network of more than 200 food banks across the nation. Money raised and food collected locally will stay in that local community.
Join us as we share ideas about how we can #fightchildhunger and enter to win one of fifteen prize packs by participating in the event. Want to earn an extra party prize entry? Register now to receive your free Child Hunger Ends Here Neighborhood Rally kit and comment to this post to tell us you have registered. Winners on Friday will be chosen both from party participants and from comments received from rally registrants.
