Treat Yourself to a Mother’s Day Pamper Routine

Mother’s Day is just around the corner! I’ve been dropping hints for a couple of weeks already about possible gifts that would brighten my day. When you live in a house full of boys, it’s never a good idea to leave them to their own devices when choosing your gift. Their taste may be somewhat different from yours. For example, they might think you’ve always wanted a Yoda onesie…

What mom wouldn’t love to wear a fleece onesie, one size too small, that raises her body temperature up over 99 degrees, and treats her to a giant wedgie every time she bends over to pick up a pair of cleats that were left by the front door? What mom wouldn’t appreciate that?

I’ve found it helpful to take matters into my own hands by providing my boys with multiple gift suggestions.  I’ve also resorted to sending them links directly to the gifts I want to receive. Even with all these safeguards in place, it’s still possible I’ll end up with something they pick out themselves. Because obviously, who needs a bathrobe when you can cook breakfast in cat pajamas?…

Since I never know how the gift-getting experience will play out until it happens, my best course of action is to treat myself to something special on Mother’s Day. It doesn’t have to be anything extravagant, I just want to feel relaxed and pampered. This year, I decided to treat myself to a little R&R by coming up with my own Mother’s Day pamper routine. All I need is a couple hours to do the things I love without feeling hurried or interrupted. 

Mother’s Day Pamper Routine

With a little help from Dove & Target, I was able to spoil myself to a perfect afternoon of shopping, relaxing, and pampering, which was exactly what I needed to feel rejuvenated. Here’s how you can implement your own self-care pamper routine:

1. Go Shopping By Yourself

One of my favorite things to do is mosey around Target, from aisle to aisle, with no real agenda. I check out the scarves and purses, pillows and decor, books and movies, nail polish and bath bombs. It’s extra special when I don’t have anyone asking me how much longer it will be, or why we’re looking at something if I don’t plan on buying it. A girl can dream, can she not?

2. Pick Up a Few Bath Items

Pampering yourself doesn’t need to be an expensive day at the spa. Grab a nice moisturizing body wash and shampoo to enjoy in a warm, quiet bath. I have always loved using Dove products that leave my skin feeling soft and nourished. Dove Deep Moisture Body Wash gives my skin a smooth and youthful finish. 3. Create Ambiance

Light of few of your favorite candle scents. Or light a few unscented candles around your bathroom and add drops of your favorite essential oil to the tub. The combination of soft light and fragrance will help clear your mind and revitalize your spirit.

 

4. Relax!

Whether you soak in a few pages from the latest book you’re reading, or listen to your favorite relaxing music, take some time to enjoy this quiet space you’ve created. Or go crazy and get summer-ready by actually shaving each leg all the way from ankle to hip! Nothing makes me feel more feminine than removing the unwanted winter-hair from my body.
