Everything You Need to Know.
Christy, @sra_nelson, is a mom, blogger, serious crafter, and etsy seller. In December, Christy launched her new website, christynelson.net, where she shares tutorials, projects, and hosts a monthly craft challenge. She leaves the parenting and general craziness of her life over at her personal blog, Crafty Conservative. Before becoming a mom through adoption and staying at home to become a craft diva and competitive knitter, Christy received a degree from the University of Oklahoma in Communications and then a few years later went back to get her teaching certification in Spanish. She taught high school for five years before “retiring” to make her career at home and online.
Andrea, @andreasmiling, is a mom-of-all-trades who enjoys web design, paper crafting, photography, being green and doing for others. She shares her ideas on all of these topics on her blog “Take It Smiling.” She designed business-to-business websites before the birth of her first child and has continued designing commercial sites, blog headers/Etsy banners, Twitter backgrounds and blog buttons from her home. Most recently, Andrea was thrilled to combine her love of philanthropy and design when she designed the logo for The Ark Adventure, a fundraiser to raise $5000 for the purchase of livestock to help families in need. Her favorite crafts (right now) include card-making and altering anything she can get her hands on, including containers and dominoes (which she alters into jewelry pieces). Andrea has won several design challenges/contests for her paper crafts and aspires to joining a craft company design team. Andrea also enjoys photographing her children and nature and contributes to Picture My Camera as the Photographing Children Editor. She is passionate about helping the earth and its inhabitants and she enjoys sharing tips to make being green and doing good easy for her readers.
Andrea considers her philosophy of “take it smiling” as a gift from her father and a way to handle whatever life may bring.
Molly Balint, @mommycoddle, spends her days raising three little girls in a fixer-upper farmhouse in rural Maryland. When she’s not feeding the chickens or rescuing her toddler from the top of the kitchen table, she’s writing on her personal blog, MommyCoddle which includes a newly launched review feature called, Show&Tell. Molly likes to try her hand at all types of crafty pursuits from knitting and sewing to pottery and paper crafts and strives to fit a little creativity into every day. She is also a pro-blogger for babycenter.com‘s MOMformation team where she writes a weekly journal about motherhood and a regular feature called, “Get Crafty.” She is also featured contributor on TwitterMoms, and writes occasionally for Wondertime Magazine. As if that weren’t enough, she has embarked on a year-long photography project called, Habit, which documents the everyday lives of a collective group of women, and helps her find balance and beauty in every day.
Kim, @craftymamaof4, is a stay at home mom to 4 beautiful children, 1 girl and 3 boys. Before she was a stay at home mom she worked full time as a Human Resource Specialist. Now thanks to a great hubby, she gets to do what she has always wanted to do, be home with her kids! Her motto is “Have fun today, the laundry will be there tomorrow!”
Kim is very actively involved in her children’s schools and activities. They currently participate in swimming, soccer, baseball, dance, playgroups, cub scouts, band and choir. Needless to say she keeps a very busy schedule! When they have free time as a family they enjoy playing board games, playing their Wii, camping, going to Major League Baseball games and of course doing crafts!
Kim’s current craft passion is machine embroidery. She has been making personalized towels, blankets and bags for friends and family. She also enjoys scrapbooking (traditional and digital), beading, knitting, kid crafts and photography.
Kim enjoys sharing what she is passionate about with other moms on her blog http://craftymamaof4.blogspot.com/ . Her blog is a mixed bag of mommy information such as craft ideas and tips, money saving tips, stories about her family, product reviews, giveaways and recipes. Very soon Kim will be starting a weekly craft vlog that will be on her blog as well as on http://www.newbaby.com/. It will be mostly crafts geared toward children with an occasional mom craft from time to time! Kim is also contributing creative ideas to http://www.partyplanningprofessor.com/.
Kim, @youcanmakethis, is a mother of three who started You Can Make This in 2006. It has grown to feature the expertise of over 200 contributing authors who have written instructions on how to make anything from clothing and handbags, to jewelry, crafts, crochet, home decor, and more. These downloadable instructions and patterns are written so that even the most “craft-challenged” person can complete these projects. The spectacular growth of the site has led to thousands of loyal customers, all enjoying the deep personal satisfaction of being empowered to say, “I made this!” A strong commitment to the unique needs of its mom customer base and a lot of very hard work has been the source of the company’s success. Recently, Kim expanded the vision of her company and branched out to create http://www.swakembroidery.com/, a machine embroidery site, and has several more projects launching in 2009.
