My son goes to pre-school three mornings a week, and for the last two years I have had the pleasure of parent-helping twice a month in his classroom. While it’s great to spend time with him and get to know other children his age, I also really love to check out the toys he plays with at pre-school. Leading up to the holidays, I use my time in his classroom as a focus group to find out what kids his age like and especially what he plays with most.
Shortly before the holidays I noticed him playing with a K’NEX-like bin of toys. I couldn’t believe how long it held the attention of the three and four year old boys and the amazing towers they created. For this reason, when I was offered a chance to review K’NEX
I took it without hesitation (and asked for a giveaway for you, of course). The K’NEX set my family reviewed is a 400 piece value tub with a recommended age of 7+. I asked for the set for older kids because not only did I think my older daughter would enjoy it, but I wanted a set that my son would grow into.
He loves it already! At nearly four he is able to help me sort pieces, find those needed for the suggested items to build, and with just a little help, slide the little pieces together. My daughter who is nearly six can work with this set almost entirely on her own, but I love helping her. There is something about sitting next to your child building a giant K’NEX Ferris wheel that gets them talking, opening up about their day. And it’s always fun to be a kid again.
I knew that the time had come to put away the giant blocks my kids played with as toddlers, and I’m excited that we’re moving into enjoying the K’NEX family of products.
