Finding My Missing Motivation – Giveaway

As I shared previously, as part of an effort to find my “Mamavation” and continue losing weight rather than sitting on this -30 plateau, I joined the Get Fit with Omron campaign as one of their program bloggers.  I’ve continued to wear the Omron Pedometer daily, and I continue to be amazed at what a difference it makes to dedicate just 30 minutes to movement each day in my otherwise fairly sedentary lifestyle.

Last week I had an incredibly special treat as part of the Get Fit with Omron program.  I had the opportunity to speak with Bob Greene.  We only had a few minutes, but I shared with him that I am down thirty pounds and suddenly having difficulty finding the motivation to lose this last ten.  I never expected him to be able to strike to the core of what I’m feeling in just a few minutes over a Skype video chat, but he did just that.

Bob shared that most of the time when people complain about a lack of motivation, it is because there is a barrier holding them back.  Without asking for too much personal information from me, he suggested that perhaps something in my life changed and that suddenly the reason for working so hard to lose the first thirty pounds was no longer there.  He also warned that when these barriers appear, it is most likely that a person will go back to their old eating habits and regain that weight.

His words could not have hit home harder for me, and I realize that it isn’t about finding something to push me forward, it’s about figuring out what is holding me back.  I look forward to continuing to monitor my daily progress on my Omron HJ-112 Pocket Pedometer, and I plan on setting new goals while finding ways to get past the barriers in my life.

Motivation to keep me moving not only for my health, but so that I can continue being a good mom to my kiddos!

  • I’m gonna lose this baby weight…after I pop out the baby. That’s my goal, anyhow. 🙂

  • Mami2jcn

I’d love to lose 30 lbs. I had my 3rd child 2 years ago and I still haven’t lost it.

  • YES!!! I’d love to lose about 80 lbs … I really wish I had a workout partner, but I am going to have to find a way to get myself moving.

  • Becky Cole

I am turning 40 this year and really want to lose weight, this time for good! I am hoping that I can achieve this with some help and support, of course.

  • This was my “sick” year. I had one really bad bacterial infection and after a really long bout of antibiotics and an immune system that basically gave out I ended up with a second one, just as difficult to kick as the third. During this time I gained about 25 lbs. Weird thing was I wasn’t eating more…in fact at times I was eating less…my body just held onto EVERYTHING and I didn’t have the energy to fight it.

But not today. Today I am off antibiotics and I took my dog for a really nice walk. I can’t believe how fast I got winded…but I’m determined…I’m taking that 25lbs off and any support Omron can provide will definitely be appreciated.

To exercise at least 30 minutes a day.

  • My goal is to finish losing my unhealthy weight so I can focus on having another baby. Omron is a great pedometer and moving is what I need to achieve my goals. The more I move, the healthier I am and more prepared to add to my family.

I am at a pre diabetic state and unhealthy weight gain. I have a goal to lose 20 pounds. I am hoping to stay focused not only for my health but for my children!!!

  • suzannejc

I have lost 12 pounds (another 15 to go). I feel really good when I eat clean and exercise consistenty. A pedomter would be a great tangible reminder just how much I move everyday and motivate me to meet my goals.

  • Kristin

I am trying to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight. And then lose some more on top of that. I have two girls and I want to live an activelifestyle with them, so they will be active as well. We want to start hiking at the local park together. The Omron will show me how far we go and let me know when I go further and have made more progress.

  • nakia george

my goal is to lose 27 pds by june for daughter’s highschool graduation.

  • Never before have I needed to WORK at keeping in shape. Motherhood has changed that and many other aspects of myself 🙂 I’m learning to embrace this fact of life. Getting motivated to begin a fitness & nutrition routine has proved to be the hardest part for me as a mom of a toddler. Time is scarce and the time that does exist I often want to spend “relaxing” (reading, watching tv or chatting w/my hubby). I’m game for anything that can help ME keep ME in the priorities!

  • I recently lost 35 pounds – now I need to tone up. My goal is to start walking more, thanks!

  • Lizzy

My motivation is to be fit and active even as I am getting older. I do not have grandkids yet, but I want to be able to do active things with them, so I want to be fit for the long run!

  • Denise

My goal is to be healthy for my 18 month old daughter, and i am going to do this by eating healthy and adding activity where i can. This includes dancing and running after her, plus walking at work on my lunch

  • WELLLLLLLL….. I keep losing the same 5 pounds, then being so happy about my success, I eat my way right out of those 5 pounds. When really I have 25 to lose to get to pre-baby weight!!

I’m trying to learn from bookieboo to not pay so much attention to the pounds, and focus more on the inches. But it’s hard to not care what that scale says!

I think what’s holding me back is me. I’m sabotaging my success every time I start feeling good about my weight/size. What’s that all about?
So you know what would help? How about increasingly-awesome rewards for every 5 pounds I lose? Yup. I think that would do it. Oooh, ooh… I know. With a trip to Disney World as my ultimate reward! 🙂

I take oral medication for diabetes and while I was pregnant I had to use injectible insulin. I hope to never have to do that again and want to get off of the oral medication and be a healthy role model for my children so they never have to deal with something like this!

  • ellen

My goal is to spend LESS time online and more time outside- walking the dog, gardening or just moving. This would help alot!

  • I’ve set a goal to lose 2 dress sizes by the beginning of summer. It’s already 85 degrees here, so I’m going with the one on the calendar 😉 I need to move around more and Omron can definitely help me make sure I’m doing that.

  • Sheila Vives

My goal for 2012 is to lose at least 30 lbs (hopefully 40) and get back to totally healthy eating which I am working on currently. I need to lose 80 lbs as I am currently 5’3″ and at 220 lbs. Yikes ! I used to always eat healthy and organic until a terrible tragic event took it’s toll in terms of stress and finances. My good eating went upside down. I thought I had only been eating bad for a few years, then realized this winter I have been dealing with PTSD and bad eating since 1992. I want to recover. I don’t want the past to continue to destroy my health. It has been great talking to so many others on Twitter, and reading blogs. I feel so encouraged and not so alone in my goals to get back to a better state of health. Thank you bloggers for all you do !

  • jenefer lynn

My goal is to walk more and hopefully lose a few pounds in the process. Omron can help me keep track of how much I actually walk compared to how much I think I do.

  • rusthawk

My goal is walk around the neighborhood every night after dinner. Great for visiting with the neighbors, too!

  • My goal is to be as active as possible! I have 2 feeding tubes and a gastric pacemaker so most days I’m in too much pain but I am trying to work through it and still reach my goal!

  • Ashley Love-Hoffman

My goal this year is to run 3-5k races. My first one is on my 30th birthday March 24. I think it’d be a great help in keeping me motivated after I reach my first goal. I also have a goal of losing 40 pounds. I’ve done the first 10 and look forward to having a healthier year!

  • Nicole Carter

My goal is to start out by walking and then eventually running again. I have really let myself go and need to get back into shape. Omron can help me by motivating me to keep going at it.

  • Sadie

My goal is to be able to run a 5K race this summer.

  • matkeltri

My goal is to get more exercise this year. Walking is probably the best exercise for me, and a pedometer will help with that.

  • Wendy

My 2012 goal is to get healthy by eating out less & eat more healthy home cooked meals. And get moving! Walking after dinner is nice but I need to step it up & do come cardio.

  • My goal is to be more active, my husband participates in mud runs, and i would love to participate with him.

  • Kay (@ACSKay)

My coworkers, most run marathons, are trying to talk me into a 5K in June and I have not even starting any type of training plan. They don’t even care if I walk it as long as I do it. But walking a 5K…I think I’d die…of embarrassment to walk it. I need to start and start now and would love the extra motivation.

  • Athena

I have been exercising since November of last year & I never knew how difficult it would be to
Lose weight and how easy it is to gain so right now my daily goal is to make good eating choices. Drink tons of water. Exercise daily by either walking 30 minutes or aerobics. My goal is lose 70 lbs by 12/12/12

  • I had weight loss surgery 16 months ago and need to start on the exercise bandwagon more now. I have never worn a pedometer and this would be neat to have
