Festive Fridays: Family Football Get-together

Happy New Year! Just because the holidays have ended and the New Year has begun, doesn’t mean we have to stop celebrating! With lots of big football games coming up, winter weekends are full of reasons to get together with friends and family and celebrate!

For many people, getting together to watch a big game is a tradition started long before the kids came into the picture and coming up with fun ways to make their game day party a family affair can be a challenge. Here are some fun ideas for including fans (and the not-so-much fans) in your football get-togethers:

Pre-game Warm Up: Gather up some craft supplies in team colors and create banners, pennants, signs, and shakers! Everyone can get ready to root on their favorite teams! Set up a face painting station and wear your team’s colors proudly!

Play by Play: Set up board and card games in another room for those who aren’t so interested in what’s happening on the field. Have an Uno or Yahtzee tournament, settle in for some serious Monopoly time, or head outside to play a little flag or touch football.

Halftime Celebration: While you can spend halftime watching crazy performances by huge music personalities, sometimes those shows aren’t so kid-friendly. Instead, play a big group party game like Charades. Set up teams as kids versus adults, home team versus away team, or men versus ladies. The competition will be just as intense as what you’ve been watching on TV!

Post-game Wrap Up: Whether or not your, team came out on top, spending an afternoon or evening with friends and family is still a reason to cheer…and to have a special treat or two. Enjoy some delicious football themed cupcakes
