As a mom of a pre-teen boy, I frequently experience the following conversation in my home:
“Honey, did you brush your teeth?”
“Yes, mom.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah.”
“Can I see your teeth?”
*long pause*
“I’ll go brush them now…”
I get it! While I love that fresh from the dentist feeling after brushing as an adult, I vividly remember battling my parents over brushing my teeth. In fact, I distinctly remember occasionally heading to the bathroom for my bedtime routine to find that my dad had concocted his own toothpaste creation, a gritty paste that contained baking soda and who knows what else.
I remember him teaching me that from time to time, it’s a good idea to brush with something more than our regular day-to-day paste in order to help our teeth stay bright and white. This is why I took notice when I began to see social media friends sharing their own home recipes for activated charcoal paste.
Why brush with activated charcoal?
Everyone seems to agree that the absorption power of charcoal added occasionally to the toothbrushing routine provides a brighter, whiter smile. But dentists also seem to agree that unlike my childhood baking soda at-home paste creation, it’s best to leave activated charcoal toothpaste to the experts!
That’s why I was excited to try Crest 3D White Whitening Therapy with Charcoal, the better way to charcoal. I trust Crest. I’ve brushed with Crest my entire life and have used Crest’s other whitening formulas and products with great success. In fact, Crest is the toothpaste I trust for my own children (because this momma is not making her own DIY paste!).
Unlike other activated charcoal toothpaste products, I found Crest 3D White Whitening Therapy with Charcoal to have a fresh, minty flavor. And bonus – it didn’t turn my white sink black!
While trying the Crest 3D White Whitening Therapy with Charcoal, I also checked out the new Crest 3D White Whitening Therapy with Coconut Oil. Remember my vow to not dip my toe into the world of DIY activated charcoal paste? Well, I have tried homemade coconut oil tooth cleaning in the past and to be completely honest – it went horribly! I simply could not get past the strange feel and taste. That was not my experience with this new product from Crest, however. In fact, the vanilla mint flavor is refreshing and left my mouth feeling fresh for the rest of the morning.
I’d love to hear about your experiences with using charcoal and coconut oil in your tooth whitening routine. And let me know if you have any questions about my experience!
I tried Crest 3D White Whitening Therapy products as part of a sponsored campaign. All opinions are my own and all experiences are authentic.
