How did you do today? Did you take the challenge? Today was especially tricky for me for a couple of reasons. The first is that I’m preparing to travel for work, so anxiety is high and patience is low. The second is that we had a busy day that included a trip to the dentist for both kids.
How do you try your best to be a patient parent when the dental hygienist needs you to hold your three year old down so she can clean his teeth?
But there were some victories. I really wanted some peaceful time in the car going from one thing to the next with Noah, but all he wanted was the Yo Gabba Gabba CD. If you’ve seen the show, you know that peaceful is the exact opposite of how anyone would describe it. I wanted to say no. I said yes. He was happy – beside himself happy – and danced around quietly in his carseat. And do you know what that gave me for fifteen minutes while I drove?
Peace.
Tomorrow is going to be challenging again as I finish up work before my trip and pack my bags. They’re forecasting six inches of snow on top of the snow already outside my front door, which means there’s a good chance we’re all spending the day together, like it or not. My kids love school, so a day stuck in the house is punishment. There’s a pretty solid chance my husband will have to work from home as well…you’re feeling my stress, right?
Parenting Challenge – Day Two
Do not bicker with your spouse/partner about anything in front of the kids…no matter what.
We’re going to give our children a gift tomorrow and see how we all feel at the end of the day.
How did everyone do today? Let us know in the comments here and feel free to link up at the Parenting Challenge introduction post.
Good luck!
