  • My worst Valentine’s present has to be a set of colorful clothing hangers my DH got me. I love them now (years later), but it wasn’t very romantic at the time.

  • Eeee matching phones.

The worst Valentine’s Day present I ever got was a HUGE scented candle. It was ridiculously big, like a foot tall & 8 inches across & the SMELL was horrible. A thick, gross musk. It was fairly clear he had just grabbed it off the shelf.

But he was 16 & clueless, so I didn’t hold it against him much. I just threw it away when he wasn’t looking. 😉 (oh the smell!)

  • Kam A

A bottle of really strong “old ladyish” smelling perfume 😉

  • anne hill

The worst Valentine’s Day gift I ever received was flowers from Mr Wrong. It was awful. I waited about a week then met him for lunch and explained my heart was in my work & I knew there was someone very special out there for him. Sometimes it’s just that way.

  • Sara Phillips

The worst gift I ever got .. nothing. My husband is not a forward-thinker when it comes to holidays and birthdays. A few years ago, he FORGOT about Valentine’s Day. So, I bought myself some flowers a few days later! 😉

  • Heather G

I was forgotten and when he remembered he ran to 7-11 and bought me nachos said they were out of Roses.

  • Sharon I.

The worst gift I ever got was nothing…my husband completely forgot and didn’t even get me a card.

  • The worst gift I got was also the best which sounds really weird but it’s true. I came home from being out of town and walked in the door to find the corniest 3 foot tall V-Day card at the top of the stairs.

  • Photocopies.

    No, I’m not kidding.

  • Lizzy

My worst gift was a statue of a cat. I am allergic to cats.

  • sarah

the worst valentines present i ever received was not getting anything!

  • luann gravenhof

A breakup letter from a botfriend!

  • Pam C.

    absolutely nothing!!!

  • Ashley T.

The worst Valentines day gift I got was nothing. My hubby always gets good stuff!

  • steff

fake flowers and a stuffed pony (??) in high school. yikes.

  • I received a waffle maker… this does not shout love and romance!

  • ♡♥♬ Louis ♬♥♡

Aaargh I had to suffer through a few years without ANY Valentine’s gift – my former boyfriend said it was just a retail plot to curb the sales 🙁

  • Oh, that’s an easy one for me. Way back in my early 20s, I was on my way to a date on Valentine’s day — and was hit head-on by a drunk driver. NOT the way you’d want to spend Valentine’s day for sure!

  • Darci

The first year my DH forgot valentines completely! No card, no gift, no reservations. And yet, I am still married to him! 🙂

  • matkeltri

The worst Valentine’s Day gift has to be the non-gifts from hubby. I think he got me something maybe 3 times in the last 27 years!

  • Deb Anderson

Worst gift was a subscription to Outdoor magazine. I think you’ll agree that gift wasn’t for ME but rather for HIM.

  • I can give you multiple answers for this question but I guess the worst one was a coffee maker! Who wants that for Valentine’s Day?!

  • Kathy Hanley

The worse Valentine’s Day gift I got was a 10 pound chocolate bar that caused me to gain ten pounds because once I got into eating chocolate every night the habit continued until Spring!

  • Karla

I can’t think of any worst gifts, but I do remember that I got in trouble one year for giving better candy to certain members of my class in their Valentines…. oops!

  • I really haven’t ever received a bad gift, lucky me, but in college my boyfriend at the time ordered a bouquet & the store got it completely and utterly wrong…it wasn’t pretty at all!

  • Shannon S

had to be from my hubs, a faux diamond bracelet that caused my arm to break out in hives, was allergic to nickle

  • Janet

The worst Valentine’s Day gift I ever received was a dozen long-stemmed roses from a guy who I was dating in high school. He had been giving me roses on a weekly basis and it was making me feel uncomfortable. I asked him to stop but he wouldn’t listen. When Valentine’s Day rolled around and with it jewelry and another dozen roses, I was quite upset.

  • Jeremy

I’ve honestly not received a gift that was bad!

  • The worst Valentine gift I ever received was a sweatshirt with a teddy bear and hearts on it. lol, so not me!

  • Natasha

One year I received a banana… from my own kitchen downstairs

  • The worse is what I have not received which is absolutely nothing, so therefore I can’t really say what the worse gift I have received. So funny this is your question, I just asked my husband (Jokingly) what he was getting me for Valentine’s Day?

  • Wendy T

The worst Valentine’s Day present I ever received was also by far the best.

It was Valentine’s Day of 1997 and I took my daughter to the library. Struggling to pull myself back up after kneeling down to look at a book on a lower shelf, a lady asked me when I was due to give birth. I told her my due date was in eleven more days!

We went home and labor immediately started so we were off to the hospital where we spent the rest of Valentine’s Day! *So much for that nice dinner my husband had promised me he’d cook me for Valentines Day – he sure got out of that one 😉

So, the worst was the labor pains (especially the back pain)and lack of the nice dinner I was looking forward to, but it was of course also the best with the birth of my son the next day!

The good by far outweighed the bad on that one!

  • I guess I haven’t really ever gotten a horrible Valentine’s Day gift – I usually get flowers, candy and a card, so I can’t complain. I’d much rather get a Windows phone though!!

  • Sheila Vives

The worse Valentine’s Day Gift I received was during my first year of marriage. I received half dead flowers from a local florist and delivered way late…the day was over. I was so disappointed and just cried.

  • Mgmommy0930

My husband and I have been married 11 years and together total for about 14 years. I got 1 gift in all those years lol. And that was the first valentines day we were dating. I did get a bag of red apples from another guy one time so….. It’s a toss up!

  • Paula

Worst vday gift I ever got was a mop and bucket to clean floor 🙁

  • nakia george

my worst gift was a mug set 🙁

  • Ann

I once got a huge bouquet of flowers with a very sweet card attached from a then boyfriend. There was a wonderful handwritten note inside telling me what a great person I was & not to change a thing for anyone including him and, oh hey, I’m dating someone else. Wa wa waaaaa!

  • Michelle Stice

Nothing ! Because my boyfriend (now husband)spaced that it was Valentine’s Day….But he did make it up.

  • Patricia

Ha Ha. The worst is probably not getting anything at all or not having a Valentine. 🙁

  • monica young

the worst valentine gift present was an used make up set. And it was used by the previous girlfriend. I cannot believe how cheap he was he could not buy me something new.

  • Kimberly

Mine was an Elvis Tapestry wall hanging. I actually still have it, but never used it.

  • Ysenia Ramirez

The worst valentine gift is probably the years my husband didnt get me anything. Because anything that is given from the heart is truly a wonderful valentine gift.

  • Linda O

I do recall many years ago of receiving nothing. That has passed now. PF Chang’s tonight!!

  • Abbe Brown

Worst Vday gift was a coffee mug…not even filled with anything. From my now ex-husband.LOL

  • Tiffany Sparks

Well, a couple years ago I thought I had struck gold with prince charming until Valentine’s Day rolled around. There he was with a box that contained a gorgeous necklace that instantly made me smile and my eyes sparkle. Why was this the worst gift? It turns out it was necklace that he had given to a previous girlfriend and she returned it to him when they broke up. NEXT! Yes, it’s safe to say we are no longer together!

  • Randi K

A ex of mine gave me a regifted outfit that was his sisters! I only found out because she ask if I liked it since she didn’t!!!!!

  • This year I got a gyro take-out dinner that was a craving my husband had. Either that or the years of nothing at all.

  • My worst valentine’s gift was a stolen car stereo. My boyfriend at the time apparently was the neighborhood car stereo thief. I didn’t marry him.

  • Kristy

The worst Valentine’s day gift I have received was some horrible smelling perfume from a discount store. I swear I would have rather gotten nothing at all than to have to go through wearing that stuff.

  • Jessica DiRamio

My worst v-day gift was a vacuum- My husband said it was so I could have “more fun” when cleaning the house. Nice.

  • Birdie Skolfield

My worst valentines gift was from a fellow employee she gave me a basket of Starbucks all the bags were regular,UNGROUND coffees I deunk decaffe & I don;t have a coffee grinder & the worst part was Im sure it was a re-gift !

  • Tiffany Ard (@tiffany053p)

The worst valentine’s day gift i ever received was not receiving one. WTH? I gave birth to your 3 kids?! Can i at least get a rose or something!

  • Alejandro Santana

My worst Valentine’s Day gift was a box of cherry filled chocolate candy when I don’ t like chocolate and more cherries. Will never forget.

  • mom4everever

I once was given something the person got because the other person did not want it- hint- engraved initials- dollar store undies is another one that is a fail or last minute flowers dead and dried.which I think he had gotten from a hospital room

  • The worst gift I ever got was probably nothing…lol. No candy no card, nothing!

  • Megan M.

The worst Valentines Day gift I’ve ever received was in 2003. I was HUGELY pregnant with our first child and very ready for that baby to be born. I was so sure that I was in labor – contractions were regular (or so I thought) and I just *knew* this was it. We headed to Labor & Delivery, ready to make it happen, even though we’d had some low-key Valentines Day dinner plans. The nurses were all very kind, but they sent me away anyway. So, my worst Valentines Day gift was a hospital discharge slip 😉 (BTW, he was born 2 days later – 9 years ago yesterday!)

  • I’m going to have to jump on the team that says they got nothing. Most years, that’s the norm around here.

  • Every year I get a Valentine gift from my mother-in-law. While she is very thoughtful, I don’t typically think of celebrating the holiday with her. Her son is a wonderful husband, and I choose to celebrate the day with him! That reminds me, I had better find the gift from her in the closet and open it so that I can send a proper thank you!

  • Kay (@ACSKay)

I agree that it’s getting nothing that is the worst. But once I got a single rose. Maybe I’m not worthy of a dozen lol!

  • Jennifer Souveroff (@Scampers49)

The worst Valentine’s gift — a new iron (to iron his shirts with!)

  • The asbolute worse gift I received was from a guy I dated that my friends set me up with. He apparently thought I was too fat and he was on some health kick. He gave me a box or sugar free candy and a BMI scale!! He said he just wanted me to “get healthy” like him. It really seemed rude and my friends were mortified! Needless to say, it didn’t last long.

  • j f

worst gift was no gift at all!

  • Rachel V

My worst gift was my husband (while we were first dating), telling me he ordered me flowers but they didn’t deliver them – his credit card was declined and he didn’t leave a phone number.

  • Jackie W

The worst gift is absolutely nothing and no mention of VDay.

  • MRB

I was once dating a girl who’s birthday was on Valentine’s day. After arranging a fancy dinner and a nice gift, but the Sunday beforehand, she called to dump me. That was the lamest valentines ever.

  • My very 1st Valentine’s Day with my now husband, when we were 16 years old, I think was the worst gift. LOL He had his friends help him pick out a gift for me, which was a silver necklace which was really pretty, HOWEVER, it turns out that the necklace was a child’s size necklace. hahah I felt bad telling him, so I just told him I only wanted to wear it on special occasions. Of course now years later, I told him, and he thinks its hilarious.

  • Flowers that were lost by the florist

  • Stephanie

ANY kitchen appliance! I love to bake but not eat it, my dh loves to eat it but not bake so he gives appliances as a hint.

  • The worst Valentine’s Day gift I got was when I was little girl. My older sister would always torment me. She and her friends left me a gift from a secret admirer. When I opened it up, it was a dead bird. They were such meanies!

  • Heather R

The worst Valentine’s gift that I received was CD labels so I can decorate my picture CDs?! I love my husband but he is clueless sometimes. 🙂

  • The worst Valentine’s Day gift that I ever received was nothing the first year I dated my husband. He just didn’t even think to buy me anything, oops.

  • The worst was one of those velvet gas station roses!!!

  • jeannine s

The worst one I ever got was a $25 gift card to a grocery store so I could buy the ingredients to make him his favorite dinner. A dinner I didn’t like eating.
