Overheard at the Dinner Table

Last night as I quietly ate my green beans, minding my own business, my five year old son turned to his seven year old sister and the following was said…

“Emma, I don’t think I told you yet how nice your dress is today.”

“Why thank you, Noah, that’s the nicest thing you’ve said to me all day.”

“Well I love you, Emma.”

“Oh Noah, I love you, too.”

And with that they leaned over their plates to hug and kiss before continuing eating as if these niceties occur at every meal rather than the kicks under the table that are the regular fare.

LOL!! Too bad you didn’t have a camera to RECORD that! It’s always awesome to witness kids being nice/loving to one another!

Yeah, turning on a video camera is the best way to get my kids to yell either at me or each other.

That is seriously sweet. And good call, not drawing attention to it while it was happening. Don’t want to spook the wildlife.

That is the sweetest thing! Makes me look forward to the relationship my son & (almost here) daughter will have.

When your children have those rare moments of showing love there is nothing more glorious. Congrats on your growing family!

Sometimes, my kids shock me like yours did. Other times, they find an old hula hoop in the garage and wrestle for it.

That is so sweet! Those moments are so rare, but they give you glimpse of the hopeful future, don’t they? Sigh.

They at least show me that my kids have the potential to act civilized. Definite glimmers of hope. LOL

Oh, my goodness! That was too cute for words! I loved it! And it immediately brought to mind an opposite exchange years ago between my two kids during a vacation in Walt Disney World. Here’s a link to a short video clip (24-sec): http://www.flickr.com/photos/janettwokay/5892199219/

Sibling rivalry happens between children of all ages (mine are ~11 years apart). Thankfully, they spend the vast majority of their lives living in harmony just like your two children. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Janet! That’s hysterical! My husband is 9 years younger than his sister and she once put him in a cake pan and launched him down the steps. LOL!
