Swimways National Learn to Swim Day Tomorrow

Ever since I became a mom, I’ve had a recurring nightmare about my children and water.  I love to swim and grew up spending most of my summer in the water either at the community pool or at the lake where we camped every other weekend, but I’ve never felt confident when my kids are around water.  One of my goals for this summer is for both of my children to become strong swimmers, so I was excited to hear that Swimways is helping parents reach that same goal with their National Learn to Swim Day.

Swimways, a leading manufacturer of pool and outdoor recreational products, created National Learn to Swim Day to increase awareness about the importance of learning to swim.  Drowning continues to be the leading cause of injury death among children ages one to four years in the U.S. according to the CDC.  TeachMeToSwim.com, the online home of the National Learn to Swim Day initiative, includes a variety of resources to help parents ensure that their children learn to swim this summer.

Thank you, Swimways, for providing this incredible resource!

  • Ack! I missed this post earlier. I almost drowned when I was about the age my son is now. After that, my Mom got me private swimming lessons and while I’m still not the greatest swimmer, I can save myself. I think all children (and adults) should learn to swim, you never know when you might need to save yourself or someone else. I can’t imagine watching a loved one drown because I didn’t know how to swim to save them.
