31 Days of…

Two years ago I wrote a series called 30 Days of Change, a parenting challenge that a small group of bloggers participated in, trying each daily challenge and blogging the results. As last year came to a close, I wanted to try another challenge, but something a little less…deep. I wavered between silly little daily tasks like making the bed or shaving my legs and wondered, what would happen if I didn’t allow myself to skip this step in my morning?  After thirty days, would anything be different?  It turns out that not only did I not have the willpower to complete these tasks every day, I couldn’t even find the motivation to begin writing about the process.

Last week I read about The Nester‘s 31 Days writing meme and began to think again about writing every day about one very specific topic.  Nester has written in the past about 31 Days of Lovely Limitations, 31 Days to a Less Messy Nest, and 31 Days to a Better Dressed Nest.

I know that I want to jump on the 31 Days bandwagon next month, but this is as far as I’ve gotten…

As you can see, there is something missing on my 31 Days button.  A topic.

I’d love to write about Disney for 31 days because I’ve got at least 31 Disney posts in draft version right now.  I also think it might be fun to finally try out that list of things I jotted down at the end of last year.  Is life really better when you exercise every day?  Will I really feel healthier if I make more meals from scratch?  Then there are the BIG topics…you know, the ones that require a lot of thought and some tears and tend to hit us all in that place in our chests where it gets tight when we’re reading something that feels close to home.

And this is where I need your help!  I would love your ideas.  I would love to hear in the comments what topic will keep you reading for 31 days straight.  I’d also love to hear what topics you’d hate to see because oh my goodness, 31 days of that would be far too much.

So let’s hear it! What’s it going to be?

I would like to read about a pay it forward deed or an idea for a pay it forward request or you can post an inspirational quote 🙂

I would like 31 days of why I love being a mommy or 31 days of precious moments as we get so caught up in the every day I think we often forget how to cherish the little moments or why we love being a mommy. Kinda funny and sweet rolled together. The other choice is 31 days of being greener with little practical tips on how to be more environmental conscious, for instance I just bought reusable snack bags for veggies and snacks (easy to change and affordable). Nothing about diet, exercise or cleaning or how to be a better person- want uplifting and inspiring not a reminder of shortcomings 🙂

  • Of… Family Fun! Each day do something with your family that only has one purpose: FUN. But I’d be willing to bet it becomes much more than that by the end of 31 days, plus it will inspire us readers to get some new, fun-filled ideas to try with our own families!

  • PS-The grand finale would be Halloween!! A fun family holiday on its own!
And DON’T try giving up sweets for October. That’s just cruel and unusual punishment. 😉

  • I think I’d go with 31 Days of Giving and I’m going to have to say Emma’s hair donation is what makes me think that, though maybe that would be more of a November/Thanksgiving thing (though that would only be 30 days).

I’m taking the easy way out. 31 Days of Color. You could not only write about items that you come across in whatever the color of the day is, you could also photograph them. At the end of your month, you’d have a very colorful blog. 🙂

  • What about 31 Days of Actually Doing What We Pin on Pinterest? Then you could have a ton of ideas! Decorating, foodie goodness, outfit creations {take an image and try to create something similar from clothes you already have!}, photography tips we repin, nail polish/art, crafts, ect.

If you want people to join in you could make a schedule. So every monday is post about your Pinterest craft. Tuesday is Fashion, Wednesday is Food, Thursday is Decor {which you could actually redo a spot in your home or create a polyvore or a collage of items you want to add decor with or SOMETHING lol!}, Friday is photography tips in action, Saturday and Sunday can be family fun things like all those activities we repin that we say we want to do.

    Just thoughts 🙂

AND OF COURSE…. properly crediting all the sources of pinned photos 🙂

  • Then again… while I still do love my Pinterest idea, with all the issues of stolen content and the unease about how to properly credit and that lack of rules for Pinterest…. maybe a Pinterest 31 Days isn’t the best? {damn!}

31 Days of Blessings sounds good to me. You know sometimes I say why things don’t go my way and forget bout how many blessings our Lord has brought to our life.If I would sit down to write down all the wonderful things we have gone through I am pretty sure my complains will dissapear. Some blessings are big and some are small but at the end everything that we go through life is a blessing because in some way or another has an impact in our life.

  • Okay, who are all these NICE people? I was going to suggest 31 days of drinking a different wine each day. Red, white, different countries etc… Now I feel like an alcoholic. Going back to crawl under my rock now….
