The last couple of weeks have been very stressful. As some of you know, there have been some trademark issues regarding my mom blogger network, Momfluence, and having to deal with those issues has not only been incredibly upsetting but also time consuming. On top of that I was dealing with the every day that we all deal with: balancing work and family, planning a birthday party, cleaning the house for the in-laws to fly in for a visit (hold your groans…it’s just three nights).
Then I sat down with my son and we watched this video from Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party last December. To set the scene, we had just spent an evening in the Magic Kingdom dancing with Cinderella’s stepsisters and having hot chocolate with Pluto. Christmas was just around the corner and life felt, well, magical. Watch this through to the end, turn up the volume, and grab a tissue.
I’ve been talking about doing something crazy for a couple of days now. I’d like to get a group of other weary moms together for a fun weekend in Vegas! I’m still working on that coming together, but I realized today that what I needed was the magic of that night. I needed something to look forward to. Something to push me through.
I’ve been taking extra jobs lately so I looked in Paypal (you can book flights with paypal, did you know that?).
And I asked my husband to block two days of his work schedule.
And then without asking permission or even telling a soul, I booked a trip to Disney….for 2.5 weeks from now.
I announced it at dinner tonight, and the kids went crazy. My husband just smiled. He understands.
Sometimes you just need a little magic!
