R Baby Foundation Twitter Party

In 2006, Rebecca Rabinowitz was born four weeks early and was sent home with her parents after five days in the NICU.  The next day Rebecca was severely congested and had difficulty both eating and breathing.  Her parents took her to their pediatrician and the hospital emergency room every day, and each day day she was diagnosed with a common cold and sent home.  Little Rebecca died on July 21st, eight days after her birth.  Her family later learned that Rebecca had contracted an enteroviral infection that can be life threatening in babies, but had her symptoms been treated, she may have survived.  As a result of Rebecca’s tragic death, her parents created the R Baby Foundation, dedicated to helping newborn babies receive the highest quality of care and service through supporting education, research, training and life-saving equipment.
