Martha Stewart at Staples Tax Season Giveaway

It’s that time of year again, the time when my husband occasionally mentions phrases like alternative minimum tax and tax deductible contributions and I shudder in fear.  I’ll admit that as a work-at-home-mom, I loathe tax season.  Every year I vow to do a better job managing the paperwork, and every March my husband and I meet in my office and try to organize my otherwise not terribly organized record keeping.

It always turns out okay in the end except for that business of having to write an uncomfortably large check, but okay is no longer good enough!  With the help of the Martha Stewart Home Office line of products, I am going to have a more organized 2012 business year.

Last week I shared information from the New York City launch of the Martha Stewart Home Office with Avery products available only at Staples and Staples.com, but we focused mostly on kitchen organization.  Since then I’ve done a little online shopping, and my office is now a bit more organized. Thank you, Martha.

What I haven’t added to my collection yet, however, are the beautifully useful accordion files.  Just in time for tax season, Martha Stewart line includes poly accordion files in a variety of colors and two sizes as well as a gorgeous shagreen accordion file in blue, brown or white.  When in use, the accordion files stay open for easy open and stand freely.  Each file includes elastic band hooks to hold your file closed when not in use.  They range in price from $6.99 for the small poly accordion file to $15.99 for the shagreen accordion file.

My biggest paperwork challenge is that I tend to let the mail pile up and don’t tackle it until the stack has become almost unwieldy. *hanging my head is shame*

biggest paperwork is just getting there- the forms pile up- receipts, tax forms, school data, work invoices. I do the mail great- it goes into trash as I open it- I do not like the mail and magazine pile but the receipts etc do pile, I know where there are as I circle the top of the desk, and it looks clean because I can close it

My biggest paperwork/organization nightmare is all my student loan stuff. Right now, it’s just all in a tote bag. :(

I have been dying to get over to Staples and look at their new Martha line. Saw your previous post in my feeds but didn’t get over to comment in time. Am so jealous that you saw her in person!!! My biggest paperwork challenge is magazine clippings from the myriad of monthlys I subscribe too. I have huge stacks all over the place and from time to time in a fit of motivation I pull out sheets that in theory I am going to sort and organize so I can find seasonal things when I need them. In reality, instead of stacks of magazines I then have stacks of torn out pages. Not very Martha, I have to say!

Honestly this would not be used for taxes, I have so much paperwork to keep up with for my daughter: IEP’s, letters from doctors, the list goes on. I could really use some organization!

It’s mail in general for me. I need something that will allow me to quickly sort and organize daily mail until I am ready to deal with it – in addition to coupons and school stuff for my kids. The paper that comes into our home is a bit overwhelming!

My biggest challenge is organizing my bills. I hate them. Probably because I hate paying them too, so they just sit in huge towering piles on my desk. Maybe a Martha filing system would solve this for me. :)
