Disney Travel Questions and Answers: Part 1

Last week I offered to answer readers’ questions regarding travel to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. I received a number of questions via e-mail and through Twitter, but I want to begin with the questions left in the comments section of the post. If you have a question you would like answered, feel free to ask your Disney planning question as well!

Question 1: Andrea will be travelling to the World with her 16 month old and heard that the baby center available at the Magic Kingdom charges a fee…

Answer: Andrea, it must have been Cruella Deville who told you that you will be charged to utilize the Baby Care Centers throughout Walt Disney World. In fact, there are Baby Care Centers available to guests free of charge throughout the resort’s four theme parks. There are no Baby Care Centers located in the resort’s water parks or in Downtown Disney, but restrooms do have changing tables. Each Baby Care Center houses baby care items available to purchase as needed such as diapers, formula, wipes, etc. They also hold a private breastfeeding room, plenty of changing tables, and a kitchen with free drinking water. Don’t forget the older children! Each Baby Care Center has a place for older children to rest and watch cartoons. It is also important to note that lost children found by Disney cast members most likely be taken to the Baby Care Center within the park. Not near a Baby Care Center but need to change or nurse your little one? No worries! We have always found the changing tables in part restrooms to be adequate and private nooks throughout the parks provide cool, quiet places for breastfeeding. Enjoy your trip!

Question 2: Deb is hoping to plan a trip to Walt Disney World sometime in the near future and is looking for ideas about lodging for families of five…or more!

Answer: While I’m sure that there are many options for parties of various sizes off-site, my knowledge only extends to on-site Walt Disney World Resort properties. My family has stayed at both Disney Value Resorts and Disney Deluxe Resorts and has travelled with as many as six people in our party and as few as one. When my family travelled in a group of six, we stayed in a Disney Deluxe Villa at the Wilderness Lodge to take advantage of the separate bedrooms, ample shared living space, and the full kitchen. The Villas located around the World, including the newest property at Bay Lake Towers, certainly provide many options for larger groups. Another option that many first time visitors may not know is the Walt Disney World Campgrounds. Check out their different types of campsites as well as their cabins to find alternatives to hotel room living during your Walt Disney World Vacation. That said, many of the Walt Disney World Resort properties can easily accomodate five guests. In fact, there are accomodations for more than four available at each of the three resort price points. For example, the Deluxe properties nearly all come equipped with a couch that easily transitions into a daybed for a fifth guest. Also, Disney’s All Star Music Resort offers family suites, which sleep up to six. Learn more about Walt Disney World Resort rooms that sleep five or more. Amy,

How did you like the value resorts? Which one did you stay in? Did you like the value resorts?

    Thanks,

Yes, we love the value resorts! We stayed at Pop Century last summer, and Noah still says that it is his absolute favorite of all the hotels.
