Friday Featured Giveaway: Ragu Mom’s the Word on Dinner $50 AmEx Gift Card

I’m so excited to bring you the first of many $50 American Express Card giveaways sponsored by Ragu’s Mom’s the Word on Dinner program.  I am a Mom’s the Word blogger and will from time to time over the next six months be bringing you yummy news and giveaways thanks to Ragu.

This month we’re talking about table manners. You can listen in on the Mom’s the Word conversation on Facebook to hear what other moms have to say about the dinner time rules in their homes.  In our home dinner means technology free time including no phones, no computers, and no TV time. In fact, we even have a rule that television shows cannot be discussed during dinner so there’s no planning the DVR schedule for the week while passing the peas.

Tell me your table manner rules for the chance to win a $50 AmEx card!

To Enter:

Simply comment below with the number one table rule in your home and you’ll be entered to win a $50 American Express card from Ragu.  This contest ends Friday, August 5th at 11:59 p.m. ET and is open to U.S. residents age 18 or older.  This post was created in connection with my appointment as an Ambassador in the Ragú® Mom’s the Word on Dinner Program. Visit www.facebook.com/ragusauce to join the conversation.

Hmm…for us it is putting your cup in front of your plate…not near your elbow…thus avoiding spills!

We just started a new absolute table rule because the boys wouldn’t sit still at dinner. They wanted to jump up, run around, and play. The new rule is pretty plain and simple – TV off and if you leave your seat, you’re finished with dinner. In other words, it doesn’t matter whether you’ve eaten all you want or not, if you leave your plate is removed from the table and put in the sink. So far we’ve only had to clear their spots once!

Keep your mouth closed while you are eating! My kids are horrible about smacking and other noisy (shudder) table manners. I’m trying hard to break them of it.
