Mamavation Monday: Things I Like About Me with C.Mom

Photobucket
At the Type-A Conference last month I had the pleasure of spending some time with Elena from Ciao Mom.  She is one of those women that makes me feel immediately at ease, without pretense.  She just feels comfortable to me.  I was so fortunate to get to know her and am now getting to know her blog as well.  Last week she announced that she is devoting today, July 11th, to creating and celebrating a list of things she likes about herself.  I decided that joining her in posting a list of my own is right in line with the tenants of Mamavation, so I’m making my list my Mamavation Monday post. I also want to share an update that I am now down fourteen pounds and have begun the Couch to 5K training program with the hope of running a 5K at Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom on October 1st.  And now…the list of Things I Like About Me:

1. I play the piano well enough to make both myself and my crazy dancing kids happy.

2. I make people laugh, sometimes out loud (LOL is nice, but in person is even nicer).

3. I operate successfully in the business world without losing my moral compass no matter how often people tell me I should change the way I work.

4. I have pretty eyes with long eyelashes that are the result of genetics and Maybelline Great Lash, not synthetic fibers or Latisse.

5. I decided to beat Dad Street at a weight loss bet, which I did.  And which I will do again (Round 2, August 4th!).

6. I save people money on their Walt Disney World vacations by taking time to answer their questions. Disney is magic. I help people give their children magic.

7. I like the way I write, which I believe (and hope) speaks to people.

8. I make a mean chocolate cake from scratch.

9. I can dance like nobody’s business. (happy to provide references to back up this statement…right Kris?)

10. It makes me happier to make other people happy than to make myself happy, which makes me happy. See how that works? Nice, right?

11. There’s nothing I wouldn’t do to help my children experience life in a positive way, without fear, without sadness, without limit. I work every day to be able to give them the world.

12. I make my husband happy (he probably won’t vouch for me publicly…but I do 😉 )

13. I know myself well enough that I was able to write the twelve things above without hesitation.

Now…what do you like about yourself?

  • You make me LOL often, have brought the “magic” to my family and inspire me all the time. So you could add “I am generally awesome” to that list if you wanted to 😉

    • We need to find a way for me to make you LOL more in person!

  • Amy, I love you!! We are a lot alike reading through these! No wonder we get along! 🙂 #4 cracked me up! 😉 What I like about myself??? The fact that I sincerely care about those I come in contact with… if they really like me or not. I would do anything for my friends and family! 🙂

    • Chele, I’ve definitely been the, “I’m helping you out regardless of what you say about it” friend. I like that about us 😉

I love the fact that I am the cheerleader/motivator/muse of all my friends and acquaintances.

  • Amy

I like my passion about whatever it is that I want to do. I love planning all day adventures for my kids full of surprises along the way.

  • I have drive. It doesn’t really matter what it is, if I put my mind to it I get it done (except losing weight…lol)

  • I love Elena, she is awesome, as are you.

And this is a great list, I’m so happy I participated in this. I’ve had terrible writers block lately, and this was a great way to break through.

    • Didn’t it feel good to write this post instead of a number of other things you probably were “supposed” to do? 🙂

  • I LOVE that you were able to think of these easily. Dude. It took me AGES! You make me laugh on twitter quite frequently.

    • It was fun!! I’m glad you posted, too, and thanks for vouching for me on the funny thing. It’s good to have references. LOL

  • I think that it’s wonderful that you’ve stuck to your morals when doing business. I’m sure that there are tempting offers and that at times it could be hard to resist.

And congrats on losing 14 lbs! Here’s to hoping that the couch to 5k goes well too!

  • Amy's Dear Husband

While you may LIKE all 12 of those things about yourself, I LOVE them. And I’m more than happy to vouch for you on #12. 🙂

    • This is the first time you’ve ever commented on my blog. First your Droid, then you take up texting, now this? If you show up on Twitter the world is going to start spinning the other direction… 😉

Love your list! And, I love that you were able to list these without hesitation. Good for you!!

  • Um yes, you can definitely dance like no one’s business! I am so glad we got to spend the time together, and so incredibly thankful that you linked up and celebrated YOU. You are amazing, and inspiration and role model to so many of us (me included!). xo

  • Wonderful idea! I sense a new meme coming on. It’s so much easier to think of the things I don’t like about myself…
I really appreciate your innovation and integrity in the business world. You are a stellar role model, and that’s definitely something to go on your list.
    Thank you!

  • I love that this list was so easy for you to make.

  • Oh, that comment by your hus.

    TOO WONDERFUL.

See, already good things from this!

    How can we lose?

  • Abbanabbott

I find it hard sharing something or tell something interesting about myself.lol Sometimes I cannot put my thoughts into words. If there’s something interesting about myself, I think that would be being an achiever and helpful to other people.

  • I love that your list went past 13 and that you went for inside and out.

  • I’ll have to try your Chocolate Cake recipe

  • I love your list! I enjoyed getting to know you better at TypeA this year 🙂

  • Jenny

Good reading, where’s the chocolate cake recipe? 😉 Thanks!
