The USDA has announced a new set of dietary guidelines for 2011, including a reduction in daily sodium intake. While previous guidelines allotted 2,300 milligrams daily, the new recommendation is 1,500 milligrams of sodium daily. That is roughly 2/3 teaspoon of salt, which can be difficult for Americans to incorporate into their diets.
Boar’s Head has partnered with Registered Dietitian Alyse Levine to help us navigate the new recommendations while still incorporating the foods we love most. The best news? We don’t have to give up our favorite sandwiches! We can reduce our sodium intake easily by choosing Boar’s Head lower sodium meats and cheeses, which have all the taste Americans love with much less salt. Boar’s Head offers more than 20 lower sodium deli meats and cheeses that pack great flavor without a wallop of sodium.
Join me at the Boar’s Head Twitter Party Monday to chat with RD Alyse Levine about how you can lower the sodium in your daily diet and also for a chance to win great prizes!
