My grandfather was a farmer and we used to joke admiringly that he would take his last breath in the field. My other grandfather moved from a farm to “town,” but turned his tiny backyard into a vegetable patch. I still remember picking peas, strawberries, and spring onions at both grandparents’ homes, and those times with family are some of my fondest memories.
With the current economy and a renewed focus on greener living, now is the perfect time to plant a kitchen garden or vegetable patch of your own!

Join Backyard Botanical inventor, Lisa Singer, at this Friday’s SiteWarming Party! Singer’s idea of a self-contained, all-in-one vegetable garden came to fruition in 2004 when this inventor and co-founder of Garden to Gro (R) tried using raised garden beds in her backyard without success. Her Gardens to Gro ready-made vegetable gardening systems debuted to rave reviews, and in December of 2008, Backyard Leisure became the official nationwide distributor of Singer’s gardening system under the Backyard Botanical name.

More about panelist Lisa Singer:
As working parents, Lisa and her husband dreamed of planting their own vegetable garden, but found it was the project that always fell to the bottom of their to-do list. After failed attempts from a professional gardener, Lisa took matters into her own hands and designed her own self-contained, all-in-one vegetable garden…which has now transformed into the Backyard Botanicals brand! Lisa Singer remains the vice president and co-founder of San Diego-based Gardens to Gro and acts as a consultant to Backyard Leisure. She has appeared on television programs as a gardening expert and is widely recognized for her expertise in the ready-made garden community.
