There is perhaps no dessert more quintessentially summer than the ice cream sundae, and no sundae is complete without the smooth, satisfying taste of Hershey’s Syrup. With the final days of summer upon us, my family decided to treat ourselves with delicious ice cream sundaes topped with Hershey’s Syrup. While we enjoy Hershey’s Syrup in each flavor – Milk Chocolate, Caramel, Strawberry, and Special Dark – we used Milk Chocolate and Caramel for our special sundae creations.
We decided to combine more than one classic flavor: vanilla ice cream, chocolate chip cookies, and Hershey’s Syrup. Because there’s nothing quite like a cookie fresh out of the oven, we began by baking the chocolate chip cookies from scratch. Need a great cookie recipe? Stop by the cookie page on Celebrate with Hersheys to find some inspiration and delicious cookie recipes.
Tip: Because we were using Hershey’s Caramel Syrup, I browned the butter before mixing the cookie dough. Browning butter creates an amazing caramel flavor that combines perfectly with the chocolate chips.
Once the cookies cooled a bit, we mixed them into softened vanilla ice cream with a wooden spoon in a medium mixing bowl. After mixing you can either serve immediately or place covered in the freezer to become more firm. We topped off our cookie crumble sundaes with a little whipped cream, Hershey’s Syrup, and a couple cherries, because life is too short to have a one cherry per sundae rule!
Would you like to recreate this sundae in your own home? One lucky reader will win a prize pack including four bottles of Hershey’s Syrup, one of each flavor – Milk Chocolate, Caramel, Strawberry and Special Dark – along with one ice cream scooper, six sundae bowls and 20 party spoons.
