Like most of the country, Superstorm Sandy left me feeling paralyzed and helpless, so close to New Jersey and New York and yet unsure what I could do. Yes, there are many opportunities to donate money, but I also felt compelled to box blankets and toys and clothing and ship them to…where? As a family we’ve begun to take note of what is needed and what we have to give, but we also want to be sure that we’re sending the most needed items to the places most able to process those donations.
Thankfully Diapers.com is providing us with a way to pay for the essentials needed by affected families while they take care of delivering these items to the proper locations. Diapers.com has already begun to help families in need by providing 60,000 diapers, 8,000 bottles of baby formula, and 3,000 bowls of pet food through nonprofit partners like the American Red Cross and the Jersey City Humane Society. They are working directly through non-profits, relief agencies, and government agencies to get these items to those who need them most as quickly as possible.
To donate visit www.diapers.com/sandy and make an “essentials” donation valued at $10, $25, $50, $100, $250 or $500. You can make your donation based simply on the monetary amount or can also select to send specifics such as diapers, baby food, formula and clothing. Pet essential donations will be made through Wag.com and household essentials such as cleaning supplies and batteries will be donated through Soap.com and Casa.com.
