31 Days of Disney: The Best of EPCOT

My second 31 Days post celebrated the 30th anniversary of the opening of EPCOT at Walt Disney World, and as promised I am sharing my recommendations for favorite restaurants, activities, and attractions inside EPCOT. I’ve had the distinct pleasure of experiencing EPCOT as a child, with my extended family, with my own little family of four, and as a couple while celebrating my tenth wedding anniversary.  While I love sharing my own experiences, I would love to hear yours as well!  Please be sure to share what you love about EPCOT in the comments and link up if you’ve written about EPCOT on your blog.  Thanks!

Attractions:

My kids became hooked on the Kim Possible World Showcase Adventure from the first time they pressed a button on the Kimmunicator. Now that the Kim Possible attraction has transformed to the Disney Phineas and Ferb: Agent P’s World Showcase Adventure, we are anxiously planning our next trip to EPCOT to participate in this redeveloped experience.

While we try to always get Fastpasses for this attraction, my family has waited in line as long as 70 minutes to ride SOARIN‘,  the multi-sensory attraction that simulates a hang-gliding flight over California.

Often overlooked, Spaceship Earth will always be a favorite of ours not just for the ride itself, but also for the Project Tomorrow: Inventing the Wonders of the Future area at the end of the ride. This interactive play area includes games and displays using the latest technology.

One of my favorite memories with my children at EPCOT was taking my daughter to see Captain EO for the first time at the same age I fell in love with this 3-D musical film starring my first celebrity crush, Michael Jackson. I couldn’t help but dance and sing along and even if my daughter was a little embarrassed by her crazy mom, I caught her dancing along, too.

Other favorite attractions at EPCOT include Test Track (recently remodeled), The Seas with Nemo & Friends, Turtle Talk with Crush, Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros, Innoventions, and Journey Into Imagination with Figment.

If you’re visiting EPCOT, be sure to stay for the 9:00 p.m. laser, pyrotechnics, and musical extravaganza, IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth.

Restaurants:

The first time my husband and I took our family to Walt Disney World we booked the very special Princess Storybook Dining at the Akershus Royal Banquet Hall in the Norway Pavilion and my memories of our daughter meeting her favorite princesses and my toddler son finding himself covered in princess kisses will always be among my favorites.

When my husband and I celebrated our tenth wedding anniversary at Walt Disney World, we enjoyed special meals at Le Cellier in the Canada Pavilion and Restaurant Marrakesh in the Morocco Pavilion. My entire family also enjoys Nine Dragons Restaurant in the China Pavilion.

Our favorite quick service restaurants in EPCOT are the Electric Umbrella Restaurant in Future World and Sunshine Seasons in The Land Pavilion while our favorite snack in EPCOT are the churros from La Cantina De San Angel in the Mexico Pavilion. Just typing the word churros is enough to make me book our flights!

  • Great info. We are at Disneyland in California right now but are planning to go to the Florida version in February. So we’re taking notes! My daughter loves the princess themed things including the meals with the princesses. She was too shy to actually say anything the first time she met the princesses but we prepared her better this time. My son (2) loved the character breakfast and I actually enjoyed that more as well. The characters kept coming by as opposed to the princesses, who only did a one time around. It just felt more relaxing for the character breakfast.

    Thanks!
